Man charged after officer kicked

A 53-year-old St. Thomas man was charged after a police officer was kicked during an arrest.

A resident of an assisted living facility is charged with kicking a police officer trying to arrest him.

Officers were called to the facility on Wellington Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, St. Thomas police said. A drunk male resident was being taken into custody for causing a disturbance when the officer was kicked.

The resident was taken to the police station where he was held until he was sober, police said.

53-year-old St. Thomas man was charged with assaulting a police officer and later released on a promise to appear in court.
