Six resolved, two new COVID-19 cases in Southwestern public health region

There were six resolved COVID-19 cases and two new ones, Southwestern public health reported Friday.

While there were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region, Southwestern public health also reported six recoveries in its Friday update.

This dropped the number of active cases in the region to 61.

Aylmer and Woodstock each reported a new case of the virus. Aylmer, though, had two resolved cases while Woodstock, Norwich Township, Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra each reported a single recovery.

There was a 5.8 per cent absentee rate on Nov. 19 for students attending school in person in the health unit’s region.

There are 21 ongoing cases in Woodstock and 17 in Norwich Township. Aylmer has 10 active cases, while St. Thomas and Tillsonburg each have four. Ingersoll has three, while Bayham and East Zorra-Tavistock each have one active case.

There have been 477 cumulative confirmed cases in the health authority’s region since the pandemic was declared. Of those, 411 have been resolved and five have died.

The province announced 1,418 new cases in Ontario in the past 24 hours, along with 1,415 recoveries and eight deaths.
